Resume

I am an interdisciplinary theater artist and co-founder of Anfibia Teatro, a theater company based in Bogotá, Colombia. I have worked in theater, opera, audiovisual media, and podcast as a director, actor, writer, and producer. I am searching for a theatrical language that allows us to reveal collective wounds and explore them in communion. I seek to create theatrical events in which presence is radical and the senses are activated in unusual ways. My work is characterized by a mixture of techniques of creación colectiva, devising, physical theater, and an irreverent approach to text. Since 2022, I have been living in the United States, where I have explored bilingual theater as a vehicle for building cultural and human bridges, in response to a world in which migration and multiculturalism are constantly woponized by supremacist political projects.

Some productions include Kilele by Felipe Vergara at Yale School of Drama (2025) (bilingual premier); Makanaky by Juan Pablo Herrera Montoya (PELZ), at UNATC “I.L. Caragiale” in Bucharest, Romania (2023); You Can Tell a Tree by its Fruit by Comfort Ifeoma Catchy for the Carlotta Festival of New Plays )2025); Solo Mia (2020) by Juanpablo Gómez at Teatro la Maldita Vanidad; As One (2022), winner of the Ópera al Parque 2021 Grant, where I was Pedro Salazar’s associate director; Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini and The Seven Deadly Sins by Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht directed by Pat Diamond at the Yale Opera in 2024. Same year in which I translated, adapted and directed Hamlet, princesa de Dinamarca at the Yale School of Drama.

I studied History and Literature with a minor in Theater Studies at Universidad de los Andes. I trained as an actress and director with Hernán Pico, Pedro Salazar, Juan Luna, Liz Diamod, Yura Kordonsky, and Alain Maratrat. In 2020, I won the New Creators Cycle in the directing phase of Teatro la Maldita Vanidad and the Guanábana Scholarship for Entrepreneurship in the Performing Arts from Teatro Varasanta and IDARTES. My thesis in Literature, María Pizarro, an experimental play, was awarded as a meritorious thesis.

In 2025 I graduated form the  M.F.A in Theater Directing at David Geffen School of Drama where I was awarded the Julian Milton Kaufman Memorial Prize in directing.

I am currently a Jerome Foundation Resident Artist at La Mama in New York, where I am developing Solitaria, a project of my own authorship.

Manifesto

logo-44.png

How to live among the injustice, the pain, horror? How is that horror and pain can exist in a world that is also endlessly beautiful? Most of the time the world doesn’t make any sense to me, but theater is still the place where I feel hope. Because it is the home of communal reimagination.

Theater is the place where we can defy the rules of what it is supposed to be. In a world that a pushes us to be productive we gather to waste our time playing. In a world where we have to distrust everybody, we try to see others with compassion, we decide to breath together and to see and learn about the other. In a world where individualism is the major value we get together for a bigger purpose, beyond ourselves. In a system that wants us to stay silent while we witness and experience horror, we are loud and immense. In a world in despair, we choose to imagine that things can be different, that things need to be different.
